About the Artist

Barry Quinn is a Monaghan-born artist and illustrator. He has exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently with a 2018 exhibition A Tide of Gathered Silence in Iontas Arts Centre, Castleblaney. This work focused on the subject of Ireland’s endangered and threatened species and some of the local conservation projects that aim to protect them. Heavily founded in drawing, he uses imagery of wildlife, flora and the human form to explore themes of identity, gender and environmentalism. His work centers around the control of space and what happens when we relinquish that control, whether in the domestication of wildlife or the learnt boundaries of cultural precepts.
