About the Artist

Eimhin Farrell is an artist from Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, working between Castleblayney and Dublin, specialising primarily in printmaking, specifically etching. Graduated from NCAD class of 2018 and is currently a member of Black Church Print Studio. His work is based on architectural features of his hometown of Castleblayney which features interesting examples of Georgian and Anglo-Irish architecture, due to the town having previously been the homestead of the Blayney Family, a former barony in County Monaghan. He attempts to juxtapose the current state of dilapidation which some of these buildings, particularly Hope Castle, have fallen into with the rapid rejuvenation of nature in the area. He tries to create images of buildings in a traditional intaglio drawing style while at the same time including a contemporary element in their composition and presentation.
